| New Azure Five (NA5) is a proposed act of parliament that if passed will raise the retirement age to 65, the age of majority to 18, and the minimum age of adult performers to 21, along with prohibiting pornography labelled as "teen", and or porn depicting adults role-playing as minors — and all media that sexualizes or promotes the sexualization of minors. Justification: A sixteen-year-old could hardly be considered an adult, the brain does not even fully mature on average until the age of 25. We recommend increasing the age of majority to 18. We also recommend raising the retirement age to 65 to reflect a rising life expectancy. Lastly, on recommendation from adult pornographic performers, we should increase the permitted minimum age of performers to 21 and ban any sexualization of minors. |

| Message | While we need further strict regulations on the pornography-industry to protect young people, we cannot support the other proposals in this bill. Propose a bill with only these proposal (perhaps as a resolution) and we will vote in favour. The ability to participate in the democratic process should not be heavily restricted by age, there is alot of people under the age of eighteen that has more knowledge and empathy than some people over that age, it is even though these brain functions develop as you have described, something higly individual. We support a voting age of 16 in national elections and 14 in local elections, becose democracy should never be about giving the educated power over the uneducated and it is our firm belief that everyone is entitled to take part in decisions about the society they live in. Hutori have had this voting age for a very long time, which have worked great! Removing it would be depriving a lot of people of their right to vote. When we passed our proposal to lower the pension age we were clear in our statement that everyone should have the right to work longer if they please, but no one who have struggled and worn out their body for their entire life should be forced to work longer than they can handle. |

Is the Socialist Front suggesting a 40-year-old should be able to legally have sex with a sixteen-year-old? There is clear scientific evidence that shows that there is in fact great differences between the teenage and adult brain. We need our laws to reflect that reality. | Message | Mr Speaker, I believe that the member opposite doesn't understand the implications of the age of majority in this country. Having the age of majority (or as the law says "age at which a person is considered an adult") effects far more than just the voting age. It effects the age of consent, the age at which one may view or be in a pornographic film/video, gamble, etc. The Conservative Party fully supports this move to increase the age of consent to 18 and the other 2 proposals in this bill.
