Message | Mr. Speaker Housing is a right, not something to be traded and toyed with, allowing the free market to handle housing is allowing it to play with the lives and rights of common people. For most green parties social and economical justice is a high priority, we hope that you will change your mind and follow the same direction. Public housing is also better from an environmentalist perspective as the state can regulate things like energy production and consumption a lot more easily, while private owners often will just see solar panels and other green updates as nothing but an expense. The state can off course also be corrupt, but state corruption can be more easily crubed than private corruption through intense transparancy laws. The state can be made to work for the good of everyone while private actors will almost always only work to increase their own profit, at the expense of human needs, human rights and the planet we live on. -Henry Moore SF spokesperson of housing |

Message | Mr. Speaker At this time our caucus can not support a total privatization of our housing market. However we would support a privatization as long as the government maintains a Housing Program for low-income families and individual, either directly through the Ministry of Health and Social Services or funding for Provincial programs.
