Bill: Integration Act of January 2211
Details
Submitted by[?]: Proletariat Revolution Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2211
Description[?]:
Rather than expel illegal aliens from Likatonia, it is perhaps in our long term economic and social interests to help the individuals who are found to be hiding in our borders integrate into Likatonian society. Each person is one more person who will be working in Likatonia to make the nation a better place. If they come here it mut speak volumes of what a nation we are and despite that they were here illegally, they should be allowed to stay, however, they would still have to apply for their citizenship through the regular channels. |

Message | We would question the motivation of any group to act in obedience with our laws when they start their life in our land in contrevention to those very laws. It would seem to encourage a certain, shall we say, flexibility in their outlook on law in general. |

Message | As it should. Let's face it, most laws are redundant anyway... laws are DESIGNED purely to be broken. After all - you don't 'need' a law to tell the person who WON'T commit criminal acts what NOT to do... and the ones who WILL commit criminal acts, aren't likely to stop, just because you say "Whoa". So - what is a law FOR? It's a line in the sand. It's so you can say, "Okay, you came past THIS point", and then base punishments on that line. SO - let's be realistic about our Likatonian laws. People in Lodamun coming across the border illegally don't WANT to 'break the law', but they DO want to escape poverty, and live a better life here in glorious Likatonia... it's just unfortunate that our 'laws' don't let them. So - let's encourage a certain 'flexibility' regarding those laws. Those people are coming across our borders willing to RISK punishment... that's how much they want to be here. Let us reward that desire... and let us help them become full, proper, law-abiding citizens. |
