Message | Wow, more spectacularly bad policies. As an aside, I thought anarchosyndicalism was a branch of anarchism, and I thought anarchism was a desire to eliminate the state. How does pursuing policies to maximise the size and power of the state square with anarchism? |

Message | Of course not eliminate! Think about Bakunin eg. |

Message | Is this the same Bakunin who wrote, "The liberty of man consists solely in this, that he obeys the laws of nature, because he has himself recognized them as such, and not because they have been imposed upon him externally by any foreign will whatsoever, human or divine, collective or individual." (Dieu et l'Etat); That sounds to me, perhaps I am wrong, that he was rejecting external authority imposing things on him. If the Government owns an energy company, it must finance it through tax. If it raises tax it must do so by using force against the people. Is that not an example of external authority? If the government prohibits nuclear power, that is using the external authority of the government to dictate what people can do. Is that not an example of external authority? Government subsidies for R&D need money, which must come from tax, etc etc. Have you not noticed that every policy you propose imposes the authority of the State on the people? Now that is logically fine if you are a socialist, but I honestly cannot understand how any branch of anarchism can be compatible with more government power. |
