Message | Mr. Speaker, On the question of the Fireworks Article, we do not believe the government should ban fireworks. We would support a change to making fireworks shows require a license and for small fireworks to be legal for the public, but not an outright ban. On the question of gated communities, we would rather this policy be changed as well but not to the one proposed here. Gated communities should not be the only kind of communities allowed and when there is more freedom on this, we aren't comfortable with letting only the government be the ones to do it, especially not with the current regime in power. We believe that both the government and private sectors should be able to set up gated communities, however there should be a provision to ensure that such communities aren't made in bad faith to, for example, promote and/or enforce segregation based on race, ideologies, religion, etc. We would refer to a law known as the Gated Community Regulation Act of 4356(http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=559906) as an example, this law being made during a time when ideological differences, primarily based on Lodamese Nationalism, was the issue of the time. Such a proposal might not be possible in today's political climate, but these are the conditions at which our party will agree to a law on gated communities. On the question of Education, this is an article we agree with. We would rather there be the freedom of homeschooling as well, but we would prefer this proposed change over the current policy. We believe at least some level of education should be compulsory, at the very least primary education. This regime's regressive laws on education and cuts on education funding have irreversibly damaged our nation and its people, to the point where we actually have a significant amount of the population who aren't literate. This is utterly unacceptable and we would like clarify that despite how we voted on this bill overall, we are all for repairing our education system and would gladly vote in support of an article like this on a separate bill.
