Bill: Opinion Change in Darnussia (OOC)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Democratic Party of Darnussia

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2213

Description[?]:

I am asking the players in Darnussia if they would favour a slight change in the political opinions of the Darnussians.

What I am putting forward is a chang of opinions so that the Darnussians do not favour a neo-liberal free market as much as they do at the moment, because this has created a nation were the majority consently rests with the same group of parties (right wing ones) and them also being able to form cabinets and government, and has stopped other parties (left wing ones) willing to put forward bills because they know that it won't win and it would damage them electorally. However I do not want a the sitution to be reversed so that the shoe is on the other foot, and only leftiest parties can win and form a majority, because that would be just defeat the purpose and be hyprocritical.

What I want is a fuild system with the majority switching from the Right Wing of Darnussia Politics to the Left Wing and then back to the Right and then so on, to allow more bills, more competition between the parties and a better oppisition since their would be a chance of victory.

This requires the Majority of ACTIVE PARTIES to vote in favour and not the majority of seats.

MessageYou wont have to change your core policies, but it will prevent all parties having to be on the right, making the game rather boring

Messageyou win back Darnussian votes by putting forth more moderate bill on other issues. Darnussians still favor a regulatory government.

MessageYou can actually accomplish opinion changes without cheating like this you know. I did it in Jakania with the help of the NeoLibertaria Party there. I played a Conservative party and my friend played a Libertarian. We made Jakania one of the most market friendly nations in all of Terra by appealing to seperate groups. Since economics is the most important issue to anyone with secular values, parties on the right economically should diversify on other issues, as well as parties on the left. Instead of having 3 or 4 identical parties splitting up the same votes, make distinctions among yourselves. If econ is most important, leave it alone and appeal to a people with differant social values, religious values, foreign policy values, or Civil Liberties values than the ther Pinko parties. This will enable you to appeal to a wider group of people and pass your agenda. the longer a country has a leftist agenda, the more leftist the opinions become.

You don't have to cheat, you just have to play the game.

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections.
