Bill: Censure of Empress Vivian Tynne and Governor Nathan Masurian (SR 2212.07.01)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Casa delle Libertà

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2213

Description[?]:

Whereas we acknowledge the Dolgarian Empire unfortunately remains the sole adherent to the Naked Rights Treaty,

And whereas we openly acknowledge said treaty restricts the legislative power of this body with regard to its ability to formulate domestic policy that regulates public nudity, public affection, and obscenity laws,

We also recognize that just because people can do a thing does not mean they ought to do it, especially when the thing in question is “doing it” where everyone else can see them “doing it,”

Therefore, we, the members of the Dolgarian Imperial Senate, do hereby officially censure former Empress Vivian Tynne and former Kirzon Valley Governor Nathan Masurian for chaining themselves naked to the Imperial Palace Gates and commencing to fornicate as a symbolic protest against pending legislation that had been duly brought before the whole Senate for consideration.

While we recognize their and every Dolgarian’s right to engage in such activity according to the provisions of the aforementioned treaty, we also reserve the right as the nation’s national assembly to disapprove of and condemn such actions, especially when the participants themselves accurately described their “doing it” as a “insulting” and “grotesque.”

MessageNow hold on... we're censuring them... because they acted within the laws of our country? Right, that is very logical.

MessageBy the way, this is just like saying:

"We realize that everyone has the right to freedom of speech, but they just shouldn't use rude words, because they shouldn't."

You should be happy to know many of the LPP members are exhibitionists, and we believe there is nothing grotesque about human behavior, regardless of the setting. In fact, natural human affection is, in all aspects, beautiful.

"We still have a little thing called Freedom of Expression around this country," she noted.

MessageWe kindly remind her Imperial Majesty and the delegates of LPP that it was Tynne and Masurian who first described their fornicating in public as “insulting” and “grotesque.” We of the CLP are quite sure that their displays of natural affection and their fornicating constitute rather stunning exhibitions of ordinary human love…when conducted in private. Against such personal liaisons we have no qualms. Nor do we possess any immediate reservations against people whose public displays of affection and public fornicating are elegant and eye-catching. However, when two people knowingly antagonize the public with their self-proclaimed “insulting” and “grotesque” bodily functions, we categorically denounce such activity just as we would denounce a person who knowingly overstated the promiscuity of our mothers or a person who purposely “pooped” on our doorstep. Therefore we call on all our colleagues in the Senate to endorse this resolution as a sign of our united denunciation of, not Tynne and Masurian’s legal public expression of their love for each other, but a denunciation of their committing said act while knowing full well that they were indeed posing a “grotesque insult” to everyone who walked down the sidewalk that day.

MessageThe "grotesque" remark was for an ironic show of dramatics.

And how dare you say Vivian and Mr. Masurian love one another. They are both happily married to other people, this was just a casual liason reminding everyone how free this nation allows individuals to be.

MessageWe do not really care what Citizen Tynne and Citizen Masurian do, that is a matter for their respective spouses to decide upon.

MessageIC: The weary-eyed Senator Bartolomeo Salute of the CLP slowly strolls to the podium to speak, "Ahhh, public fornication without love........reminds me of the two dogs I saw in the park last Wednesday morning, not to mention the two cats in the alley below my window that kept me awake most of last night. I'll settle for wholesome love-making with my wife in our residence any night, rather than carrying on like two has-been politicos making a public show of it on the central square. Enough of this prattling on and on! I move for an end to the debate and call this resolution into question for a yes or no vote by the whole Senate."
