Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Democrats

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4721

Description[?]:

The Social Democrats stands for more transparency within the government. We believe the people have the right to know and understand what is going on in the country. However, our current FOI laws are not fit for purpose in modern times. We believe that if releasing information to the public that endangers our national security then it must not be done. We are just putting them at a bigger risk of danger as national security affects them more than anyone else, that is why we are proposing to prevent information been released too early and risking the security of our country and it's citizens.

MessageMembers of the Social Democrats,

The citizens have the right to know. If classified files are deemed "too dangerous to be released", then a longer period of time shall be stablished before its release

MessageSeasamh Clé,

That is what this bill proposes, we are not proposing that the file shall never be released as we do not stand for that. We stand for more transparency however this bill is just to prevent the information been released while it is a threat to national security. It will still be released after a longer period of time when the threat ceases to exist or becomes a minor threat.

We urge you to reconsider the way your party has voted. It will help protect our citizens, voting no will make your party put their safety in jeopardy.
