Message | Whilst the Alliance sees no pressing need to change any of the titles referred to in this Bill, it does believe now is the time to consider doing so - as part of the overall debate on our constitution. The Alliance therefore takes this opportunity to express its preference for the title of the legislative chamber - which is simply "Parliament" |

Message | We are in agreement with the majority of what has been said by the government. We in the opposition believe the current title of the legislature is preferable for now. Although we would consider the support of titles such as the 'National Parliament' or 'The Senate' or 'House of Representatives' |

Message | It's the preference of the Social Democrat Party to either support the titles of "National Parliament" or "Parliament", though there is no need to change any other position's titles. |

Message | Having funded some research into the national archives, the Alliance Party has discovered that the name of our National Assembly was changed a very long time ago - in 2049 to be precise - via this Act of Parliament: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=3459 Although that means that the National Assembly is traditional, the previous title of our chamber - simply Parliament - pre-dates it. From the Alliance point of view, our provisional suggestion is to revert to the simple nomenclature of "Parliament". It would signal a fresh start for this chamber, could not be accused of being anti-traditionalist and (conveniently!) happens to coincide with the Alliance's preference. Although there does not appear to have been any strong feeling either way so far, there has at least been one other mention of support for this (SDP). |

Message | The SDP wholeheartedly agrees with the Alliance Party on the reverting to the simple title of "parliament" for our national legislature. Our party encourages the CNP to give their thoughts on the proposal. |

Message | After a year's debate on this matter, this legislation will now be put to the vote. A summary of its place within the overall constitutional review is to be found in the Constitutional Review summary Bill: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=620247 |

Message | In the CNP's opening speech the Leader of the Opposition stated that the CNP would consider supporting "National Parliament" as a replacement title for our Assembly. Yet the simple "Parliament" is a step too far, and required far too much compromise of the CNP principles to garner sufficient support to lead to a Yes vote for this proposal. The government will bear in mind, in case of further need of finding common ground (in a future potential coalition government, for example), that the CNP do not appear to find it easy to compromise. |

Message | The name of the central most powerful institution in our nation should not be founded upon having tp compromise. We didn't want to see a change and it is our democratic right to oppose it. Does the government really fear opposition? |

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself. |
