Bill: Cabinet Proposal of May 4778

Details

Submitted by[?]: Alliance Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 4779

Description[?]:

The Alliance was hoping to establish a new era of co-operation between all parties in Parliament when it offered cabinet positions to both opposition parties immediately after the previous election.

The MLP declined on that occasion, and since then Parliament has been reduced to two parties.

Rather than whoever winning an election having carte-blanche to pass any legislation it chooses, the Alliance proposes that laws are passed where there is consensus between the two parties.

This will avoid a "yo-yo" effect of legislation changing from one policy to another with the passing of each election.

The Alliance asks the MLP to reflect upon this and to consider this cabinet proposal. If the party wishes to discuss further then it is invited to say so in the debate.

Random fact: In cases where players have failed to clearly and accurately reference their nation's RP laws in the "Bills under debate" section, Moderation will rule them invalid if a challenge is made to their validity.

Random quote: "The great economic, social and political scientist, Karlstein Metz, accurately predicted over 2,500 years ago that capitalism is doomed to destruction by its inherent weaknesses and contradictions, and must inevitably be replaced by a communist form of social, political and economic organisation." - Friedrich Pfeiffer, former Dorvish politician
