Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, The powerful Northern Council bloc of nations is currently in session at a meeting (OOC: see http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8866 ), and I believe this would be a good opportunity for the Likatonian Senate to petition the Northern Council governments, both individually and collectively as the Northern Council, to clarify their position in relation to the illegal territorial claim one of its members, Keymon, has made on our island state of Pirland (OOC: see http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7036&start=650#p160967 ). Like the rest of my fellow Senators, I bear no ill will to Keymon, a country which has recently been through a traumatic civil war, which its people are still suffering the consequences of. I would not wish to do anything to unnecessarily deepen the pain of the Keymonite people, and I am sure this is a sentiment my colleagues in all parties would agree with. Nevertheless, as representatives of the Likatonian people, we have a solemn duty to defend our country's sovereignty, and that surely means we cannot lightly ignore the events that are now taking place. To summarise some key points: - Keymon has unjustly staked an illegal territorial claim on our sovereign territory of Pirland. - Rather than focusing on relieving the poverty of its own people, who have struggled as a result of the recent civil war, Keymon is now shifting its focus towards rebuilding its military, with the assistance of its Northern Council allies, Kazulia and Lourenne. - Hutori, one of the most economically and militarily powerful nations in Terra, and another of Keymon's Northern Council allies, has further strengthened its bonds with Keymon through the marriage of Hutori's King Henry to Keymon's Queen Eva. This may one day result in the two countries uniting as a single Kingdom. - Dorvik, another very powerful nation, and another of Keymon's Northern Council allies, is now operating a naval station on Keymon, and has been carrying out joint military exercises with Keymon's armed forces (OOC: See http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=353&start=2050#p161019 ). Mr. Speaker, I regret that these distressing events have taken place, and I regret that I must bring them before this Senate, but there is now no alternative but to do so. The Northern Council collectively, and the Northern Council governments individually, owe the Likatonian people an answer as to what their intentions are towards our national security and our territorial sovereignty. Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play. |
