Bill: Energy Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: AMDRepublicanKadima

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2217

Description[?]:

We need to do something about our energy provision. Energy should stay in the hands of private corporations, but we cannot allow them to hijack prices. For this reason, i propose that we either regulate the prices at which energy can be charged, or help low-income families pay for their energy.

Choices are:

# Energy is provided by private companies but the prices they can charge are regulated.
# Energy is provided by private, unregulated companies but subsidies are given to those on a low income.

I am unsure of which to choose. We must choose on though. I would like to know which one you support before i propose anything. Please get back to me on this important issue.

MessageIt is economically vital that energy company prices be regulated. Due to the fact that they are natural monopolies, they are able to charge however much they want. Additionally, they have continuously falling average cost curves, since their marginal costs rarely catch up with average cost.

Random fact: Characters are considered to be "owned" by the player who first mentioned or created them. In practice, players may share responsibility for role-playing a character, but ultimate authority rests with the owner.

Random quote: "If democracy is ever to be threatened, it will not be by revolutionary groups burning government offices and occupying the broadcasting and newspaper offices of the world. It will come from disenchantment, cynicism and despair caused by the realization that the New World Order means we are all to be managed and not represented." - Tony Benn
