Bill: GE/6: Reaction to Terrorists
Details
Submitted by[?]: Grey Eminence
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 4788
Description[?]:
We in Likatonia will bar no option when it comes to the safety, security, and health of our people. These Hosian Fundamentalists will no doubt attack again, and we will and must be ready for them. This bill will allow us not only to stop any attack when it occurs, but also before it occurs. To explain the following articles: Article 1: If these terrorists are as well armed as they say, what are our officers going to do if they only have a taser and baton? They need to be able to protect themselves, but more importantly protect others. Article 2: A warrant is time-consuming and costly, if there is reasonable suspicion then our honorable officers should be able to arrest those plotting and preparing to perpetrate attacks on our innocent people. Article 3: It is clear that the internet allows these terrorists to communicate and spread their message—therefore it must be strongly regulated to make sure no innocent people are succumbing to their hatred. Article 4: Releasing everything after a set time is dangerous. Imagine if confidential files detailing a current operation were released. The bad guys would know what we're doing and we would fail. Also, some things are best left out of the public eye, for the greater good. Article 5 (OOC: clarifying an existing law): The current law details that "Police may arrest crime suspects". We believe that the police may identify someone as committing a crime, such as being a Hosian Fundamentalist, to stop crimes before they occur. Imagine if we had this before the attack? Police would have been able to arrest the attackers and saved the lives of those TWELVE people! In conclusion, anyone against these laws should be seen as mildly suspicious—they don't want us to stop the terrorists? What if their action against this bill caused the death of another TWELVE, or even TWENTY people? For shame. |

Message | GE: With regards to the last paragraph on the bill. Any party may vote down this bill. Any party may vote for or against any bill in this senate under any circumstance. To try to force or even persuade a Party to vote for this bill under those words you have used is un constitutional. The GE is the suspicious party in this bill. |

Message | SPP the 3rd article is a protection to stop terrorists causing mass chaos by trying to bring down the government illegitimately. People can still oppose the government, just not in a way which encorages to do so by violent means. |
Date | 00:21:37, July 20, 2020 CET | From | Grey Eminence | To | Debating the GE/6: Reaction to Terrorists |
Message | "Subversive anti-government material" as stated in article 3 is defined as material "Seeking or intending to subvert an established system or institution", meaning only things that directly attempt to bring about the end of the nation as we know Likatonia, and to put in its place a radical, Hosian Fundamentalist state. The only people that have to fear are those seeking the downfall of democracy and those moved by hatred. |

Message | LF: so violating freedom of speech is okay. |
Date | 00:25:36, July 20, 2020 CET | From | Grey Eminence | To | Debating the GE/6: Reaction to Terrorists |
Message | So calling for the open destruction of our democratic and free institutions is protected by freedom of speech? Calling for the death of people is okay? That seems to be what you're saying. |
Date | 00:27:06, July 20, 2020 CET | From | Socialists People’s Party | To | Debating the GE/6: Reaction to Terrorists |
Message | With context to what the person is saying then it’s completely subjective. |
Date | 00:29:13, July 20, 2020 CET | From | Grey Eminence | To | Debating the GE/6: Reaction to Terrorists |
Message | If someone calls for the death of people in an abortion clinic, should we allow them to say that? Especially when there is a risk that they may do it and kill 12 people, injuring 15 more? |
Date | 00:32:42, July 20, 2020 CET | From | Socialists People’s Party | To | Debating the GE/6: Reaction to Terrorists |
Message | GE: no people should never be allowed to say that. But people should NEVER! Be prosecuted for anything they say. The government has struck a deal saying if we pass this bill we will remove article three in a new bill. In return we will endorse the GE in the SC run. |
Date | 00:42:11, July 20, 2020 CET | From | Grey Eminence | To | Debating the GE/6: Reaction to Terrorists |
Message | We would like to point out that that speech is not illegal, just regulated against saying such horrible things that violate human rights. |

Message | "As minister of internal Affairs I will make sure that these laws get carried out and mean that real change will come to our cities. To long terrorists have goten of easy, we have to stop this and it is my job tomake sure this law does. I willalso work wth the Justice Ministry to make sure that this message spreads through both departments." Trudord Peterson, Minister of Internal Affairs |
Date | 13:48:51, July 20, 2020 CET | From | Democratic Party of Likatonia | To | Debating the GE/6: Reaction to Terrorists |
Message | GE is definitely trying with LF to downgrade our democracy from full-democracy to flawed democrcy. As long as Democratic Party exists we will stand against authoritarian rule and brutality of police forces! |
Date | 18:21:08, July 20, 2020 CET | From | Grey Eminence | To | Debating the GE/6: Reaction to Terrorists |
Message | Why is the Senator from the Democratic Party worried of this bill? The law only extends to terrorists and people that wish for the death and downfall of the government and its members, and your party certainly does not fall into that category... or does it? |
