Bill: Future of Lodamun - Questionary

Details

Voting deadline: January 4889

Description[?]:

Dear members of the Committee,

we have had many thoughts about how to restructure the Lodamese public services in order to meet with the standards. We would like to know what all of you think about that. Goal is to make some changes to save the government money and to make sure we have a good understanding with eachother.

1. Minister Skrtel is currently working on a restructuring of the military. He believes that Lodamun doesn't need a large military. He wants to install a system where the army regulars conduct policing tasks in addition with a system of reserves. Each Republic would be responsible for its own military, but would be supervised by a national military apparatus. Obviously, the police is the responsability of the Minister of Internal Affairs, so how would we regulate that?
2. The Republics have a very elevated status of independence, but some matters should be left to the federal government. We believe that investments are important, and some contracts should be left to firms abroad. Therefore, it might be better that certain industries or domains remain or return in hands of the federal government. For instance, the Newport Harbour port facilities should be in federal hands.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We believe the military shouldn't interfere with the business of the police unless there is an emergency, say for example when there is a situation where a state of emergency is declared, as is in accordance with current law.

With the issue of the involvement of the federal government, we agree that some matters are best handled on a national scale. With this specific matter on the Newport Harbour facilities, it is to my understanding that past investments towards that were toward renovating/upgrading said facilities and in turn, the Lodamese Navy. With the defense of our shores in mind and that we believe said renovations to be necessary, we also agree that Newport Haven should be in federal hands to handle such. Should there be opposition, we are open to hear arguments of such.

MessageMr. Speaker,

we appreciate the comment of Mr. Larnus. Yet, we believe that our goal is to give the military policing tasks, in order to diminish the costs. The military would perform police tasks and nothing more than that. The military would replace the police, and as we are willing to work together with other nations, we have no need for a militarry.
Our military would perform police tasks and would only be put active once our nation would be invaded. In that cae, we would have our reserve to act.

MessageMr. Speaker,

if we launch a treaty to declare Lodamun neutral, we could seriously cut down on Defence costs. We could go with a very small army and recrute reserves. What does the rest of the Committee think about that.

MessageMr. Speaker,

As long as recruiting reserves doesn't involve mandatory service, we can agree with this.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play".
