Message | Prohibition has been proven to fail. People don't trust the government well enough to give in to "Father knows best" policies. Economic sanctions, on the other hand, give a more concrete reason to avoid the alcohol trade. |

Message | This isn't so bad. It's in line with our space policy, it's almost consumer advocating. I'll vote with LFP on this. |

Message | I'll move this to vote. You who say it should be expanded to prohibit sales to minors - think of this. It's a step in the right direction. If you vote against it, you'll be seen as supporting the status quo, which I'm certain none of you would like. |

Message | Why is it ok for the young to drink? What we had before the current legislation was perfect. |
Date | 04:32:13, June 18, 2005 CET | From | National Centrist Party | To | Debating the Alcohol Licensing Act |
Message | It's not okay for the young to drink, it's just accepted that prohibition doesn't stop them. |

Message | What is Prohibiton? I know what it is by the way its just selling to minors and minors drinking are two different things. i believe this is setting up a drinking culture somethig this country dosent need. Alcohol is not good for a growing mind or body and who will foot the bill when these mindless miscreants get Liver disease? Adults have a right to wreck their lives Children dont. Children are the future and if this goes through it will be bleak. |

Message | Setting up a drinking culture doesn't result from not prohibiting things. A drinking culture is what you get when you outlaw them. You get a culture that says, "Screw you, Big Brother!" and drinks themselves to death in spite of - or perhaps just TO spite - the laws. OOC: Youth culture in the US can be accurately described as a drinking culture. Obviously, the approach taken there hasn't worked, and it won't work here. |
Date | 08:59:29, June 18, 2005 CET | From | Republican Party | To | Debating the Alcohol Licensing Act |
Message | In the spirit of free markets and steming the tide against government regulation of the alcohol industry, the Republican Party will be reversing the course of the previous leadership of our party and votes nay! |

Message | Mutt: No, actually, that's YOUR position right now. This is a restriction... and you're voting to maintain an unregulated market. I'm sorry, but right now YOU are voting in FAVOR of alcoholics. |
Date | 14:28:07, June 19, 2005 CET | From | mutt Party | To | Debating the Alcohol Licensing Act |
Message | No. You are allowing anyone to drink it. The only restrictions you have put are people who can sell it. |
