Message | Trade unions, workers councils and other labor organisations are an important and essential part of our society. It is our role, as the custodians of the national interest, to ensure that they remain an effective and fair part of the apparatus that protects and encourages our working population to continue achieving as they have. This act will mean that the will of the workers within those organisations is respected and sought by their local leaders. Do not misunderstand, we are not implying that unionist leaders are calling errant industrial action against the will of their members - this simply enshrines in law, the requirement to do what is already done on a common basis by those great men and women. The aim of the act is to ensure that when leadership is passed to the next generation of local leaders, that the mistakes of the past - of autocracy and ignoring the wishes of the people, do not start to once again seep into our political, economic and military systems. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We resubmit this bill for vote, and hope that we can still rely upon the support of the chamber. It is of vital importance that we enshrine as many protections as possible for the common people in our laws, to protect against the ever present threat of a return to the dark days in our past. Mia Frowen, Head, NUP Industrial Affairs. |
