Message | This bill restricts the rights of all individuals. First and foremost, the change in the right of a woman to her own body, which includes abortion, should not be regulated by the government at all. Any woman who wants a child will go through with a pregnancy and those who do not will find ways to terminate their either way, which simply puts the lives of women at stake. Second, contraceptives should be completely subsidized by the government. We have one of the biggest populations in the planet. There is no point in giving discounts for contraceptives as people would still need to pay, either way. It is the urban poor that is severely affected by this as they do not have the means to pay for both contraceptives and live on, sometimes below the minimum, wage. Lastly, sports clubs should be funded by the government. They are necessary for public health as much as other things. There are sports clubs that are ran by communities or through charity, and many rely on government funding. Doing this would harm these organizations, and the government should be ashamed of doing this of all things. We hope the government reconsiders or we will simply file a bill to Parliament amending these proposals should they pass. |
