| Declaration signed by Sinistra Ecologista's members, as well as a list of other enviromentalist organisations and movements and of indifidual citizens As of April 4854, the average monthly level of CO2 in Terra's atmosphere exceeded 413 parts per million; Global concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is this high for the first time in 55 years of measurement, and probably more than 3 million years of Terran history. The current concentration may be the highest in the last 20 million years. There is a great scientific consensus that human activities are responsable for the growing emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gasses who are altering our Climate and rising global temperatures. Heading for a +4°C in global temperatures in the next century means we will face severe weather phenomena that are beyond catastropic. Not just the climate is changing, causing severe desertification in all the Majatran continent, distructive human activities also cause the breakdown of our ecosystems, causing the extinction of many species and an unprecedented loss of biodiversity which is having and will continue to have a huge impact of our lives and our wellbeing. We ask the National Assembly to pass this declaration, in order to tell the truth about the current crisis Terra is facing and to protect Istalian Citizens' lives and the richness and diversity of our land. - Movimento della Sinistra Ecologista |
