Many trade unions and syndicalists have organised large strikes all across the country to oppose the scheduled increased of retirement age to 65 years old.
"The government wants to increase retirement age for all workers, no matter how hard and physical their job is. This is completely unacceptable. An agreement has to be found between the government and the trade unions." said Robert Brine, a representative of the United Services Trade Union. It is estimated that 15 % of the population went on strike today.
The National Movement also criticized the decision of the government. "Mister Belmont doesn't care about the workers. He prefers giving subsidies to multinationals and banks, instead of caring about those who work hard."
