Message | As all art, music and technology is wholly derivative and builds upon the work of previous creators, as well as drawing influences from the whole society and from other societies entirely, no individual can be said to have “created” anything, but has instead merely altered the work of others. Why should this fact entitle individuals to claim exclusive title over a section of common property, the cultural and knowledge inheritance of the entire nation? And how can we, as a government grant title to property that is not ours to grant? Copyrights are anathema to social creation of beauty, enlightenment and innovation, and represent a theft by an individual of property which belongs far more to all than it ever will to just him or her. We must oppose. |

Message | As for plagiarism, if a work is good enough to plaigiarize, then people will know the original well enough to know that person 2 the plagiarist did not compose person 1’s work. People are not stupid, Comrade. |

Message | This is why we proposed a limited copyright, rather than a more extensive one. This would mean that you're allowed to make your own offspring of said works, and use it for inspiration, but this would disallow straight plagiarism. We understand your point, but we want to protect the rights of original creators of works. We hope this has addressed some of your concerns. We understand if you choose to still not support this bill, we just thought that this is an important bill for creators. |

Message | If the Coalition would like to protect the original creators of the work, they would have to reach back into the mists of time to do so. Nothing is new, it is all synthesis and that knowledge and experience is the foundation of Kalistani Culture. It therefore, by rights belongs to all of us, and we all have an equal claim on it. Why should one person or a small group of people therefore be permitted to profit off of the property of all? |
