| Legislation to clarify the authority and powers of the head of state and head of government, and to impose term limits on the Presidency. I. The President Article 1- The President of the Republic of Jakania is the head of state of the Republic of Jakania. Article 2- The President-elect, if a member of a party, shall sever his relations with his party and his status as a member of the Assembly of the Republic shall cease. A person may be elected as the President for two terms at most. Article 3- The President represents the Republic of Jakania and the unity of the Jakanian nation, ensures the implementation of the constitution and the organized and harmonious functioning of the government bodies. The President shall represent the country internationally when appropriate. Article 4- The President is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Article 5- The President is tasked with inviting a member of the Assembly of the Republic to form the government. II. The Prime Minister Article 6- The Prime Minister of the Republic of Jakania is the head of government of the Republic of Jakania. Article 7- The Prime Minister is nominated by the President by inviting a member of the Assembly of the Republic to form the government. Formation of the government and the appointment of the Prime Minister is formally certified after a vote of confidence in the Assembly. Article 8- The Prime Minister leads the Council of Ministers, which is known as the Cabinet, guides the law-making process, appoints and may dismiss all other Cabinet members and ministers, and coordinates the policies and activities of all government departments. OOC: This RP law is binding. It can be repealed by a simple majority vote in the legislature. |
