Message | First, we thank the support second we agree 100% with DLP we feel the same way. but we didnt want to go for full illegal because that would make us seem like we would support it which we fully dont. so after the next elections i will forward the bill. TY DK BBP(KP) |

Message | BBP: Would it not be better to cancel this bill and propose a fresh one that nuclear power should be illegal period? It would appear that has the backing of yourselves, ourselves, the DLP and the CP. |
Date | 20:58:57, May 07, 2006 CET | From | Growth and Prosperity Party | To | Debating the Nuclear Power Bill 2223 |
Message | The Growth and Prosperity Party supports this bill but not one where nuclear power would be illegalized. Current nuclear technology is quite safe, and is probably the best short-term hope for reducing carbon emissions in the short run. We understand the concerns of citizens that might live near a power plant, but feel that by banning it altogether it also eliminates situations where there are minimal renewable energy alternatives and where a traditional fossil fuel plant would be destructive. |

Message | Good points, but the danger posed by nuclear power is massive. It is possible that a full meltdown could result in the end of Terra as we know it, albeit in 20-50 years as the uranium reaches the core of the planet. Furthermore, nuclear waste takes a time span equivalent to the evolution of man to become safe. The arguments against, we believe, outweigh the arguments for. With increased emphasis on renewable energy and clean burning techniques we can eliminate the need for nuclear power as a short term solution. |
