This bill would cap the amount of lawsuits to actual damages. There is no reason that an injured party should profit beyond the financial costs they incurred simply because the lost was caused by a richer party. Therefore damages would be limited to medical and legal expenses |

Current: There is no cap on monetary damages awarded to patients in lawsuits.

Message | I'll be voting against this. Tort reform is a good way to let the incompetent off easy. Maybe not a bad idea for garbagemen, but for people who make life-or-death decisions, like doctors and long-haul truckers, this is an inane idea. Dr. Alvin C. Dulles, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Panel of the Socialist Liberal Party |

Message | "And what would be the percent the victim was given back of the original damage? Let's get specifics." - You can't ask that to be written into law. Judges and/or juries should be responsible for deciding how responsible parties are for damages in cases, and how much of the contested money they should pay. Now on whether to reward punitive damages...we are against. [that means we are for this bill] |

Random fact: It is possible for a player to transfer ownership of a character or a royal house to another player. This should be done in a public way, such as on the Character Transfers thread, so that if a dispute arises in the future, Moderation can be pointed towards evidence of the transfer. |
