Bill: Child Benefit Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Green Manalishi Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2226
Description[?]:
The current legislation is inefficient public spending. We propose that child support payments should serve low-income families who need it most. We are open to discussing the possible alternative of guaranteeing child support benefit to both low-income AND large families, but for now our preference is the above. |

Message | It's a question of efficient public spending, very similar to the current Pharmaceutical Drugs Bill. As mentioned above, we would also consider amending the bill to add large families. We feel that money saved here, by giving child benefit to the families that most need it not handing it out freely to those that do or don't , can then be spent in other areas. |

Message | We would support that argument, if it were to provide FREE PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS. There is very little point in having a system of free healthcare when people then have to pay for their medication. Medication, especially for illnesses such as cancer, can be extremely, even prohibitively expensive for a patient. Upwards of thousands per course of medicine. |

Message | We support keeping the current policy. This provides additional support for new parents, helping families transition better. |

Message | The GPP feels that the myriad of "benefit" bills currently in use tend to needlessly creates additional bureaucracy. This does not alleviate the bureaucracy at all, while potentially lowering birth rates. |

Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play. |
