MessageMr Speaker,

Whilst we can support some of these reforms, we absolutely cannot support legalising prostitution. Prostitution is a practise which takes advantage of vulnerable young women, who, instead of being helped by their communities, have had to turn to desperate measures to support themselves. The promise of money, in exchange for sexual consent, is outrageous, and thus, prostitution should be seen as rape. Of course, prostitution being illegal doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but at least it will be less prominent in society.
