Bill: Axis Mundi Revolution - To Arms!
Details
Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2225
Description[?]:
Axis Mundi Revolution! believes we live in troubled times. Enemies on every front. Even in our own beloved Likatonia, even in our own beloved Axis Mundi, internal and external threats have caused us heart-ache. The AM PSS recently dissolved through the suspected machinations of the terrorist organisation known as the "Army of Loyalists". The Axis Mundi RIP Tetragrammaton seem to have been victims of some external force - since their demise was so sudden. Axis Mundi Revolution! calls for a more vigilant position - we MUST increase our readiness. Threats could be anywhere. They have struck here, in the heartland of freedom. Hukatai is no longer safe, with militants harboured by the citizens, and Convocation members considered viable targets. Our borders are not safe - and danger is all around us. To Arms, Brethren and Sistren, To Arms! Power to The People! Long Live Axis Mundi! Long Live Likatonia! |

Message | Thanks to Article 3, We cannot vote in favor of this legislation, despite the other excellent points it makes. |

Message | AM RLP: That is a shame. Again - perhaps the Axis Mundi Revolution! can submit a revised agenda in the immediate future. It would certainly be worth it, for the support. Our problem with the situation, which article 3 was intended to address, is that our defenses are too unstable, being in private hands, when corporations are often slaves to external investment. We could consider offering the point with a more moderate approach, but we believe the current perspective on that issue is dangerous and wrong. |

Message | The Progressive Party opposes? Why would the Progressive Party SUPPORT terrorists, those who wish to destroy democracy, and people who HATE Likatonia? |

Message | Our problem with article 3 is that defense research would be too stable, being in government hands. Every major advance in weaponery has been developed by private research and only introduced to the military after long fights against the government; who did not want change. Government is excellent at refining an existing design, but poor at coming up with inovation. If the defence industries were all government, our wars would be fought with rocks and sticks (but they would be goooood rocks and sticks) |

Message | Response to the AM RLP: We do appreciate the AM RLP concerns - which is why we are thinking of reintroducing this directly, with a revised 'half-way' concession on article 3... some 'shared' responsibility. |

Message | We would suggest something along the lines of forcing defense industries to have majority ownership in domestic hands. We share your concerns about external ownership of our defense plants, but fear the stiffiling of innovation that is too prevelant in government bodies. No bureaucrat ever lost his job for refusing to change existing policy. |

Message | Good points made by the AM RLP - the AM Revolution! is currently reviewing our policy on this issue. |

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
