| Reporters note the climate of anxiety in which activists opposed to the government live following the new laws. According to an investigation by the newspaper Free Luthori, Liberal Party activists, as well as feminists and anti-racists, were arrested, detained, and sometimes even tortured by police officers on government orders. Since the law states that the powers of the police are unlimited and that police officers can torture suspects at their discretion, no investigation will be opened. |
