Bill: Executive, Legislative and Gubernatorial Term Length Reform Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Republican Party (RP)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 5002
Description[?]:
The President has weighed up arguments for constitutional reform and while wishing to preserve Presidential powers regarding government formation and separately maintaining the size of the Senate, the Republican Party has historically supported reduced elected terms. On two occasions the Republicans have supported more frequent elections (introducing a 24 month term of office in 4929 - http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=643968 and a 36 month term in 4963 - http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=646242). The Republicans are willing to support the shorter term lengths in order to encourage more frequent elections. |
