Bill: OOC/RP: Mayoral elections for ducal capitals

Details

Submitted by[?]: Luthorian Progressive Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 5005

Description[?]:

The cities of:
- Shipley, Shipleyriding
- Fort William, Orange
- Northminster, Northriding
- Middenhall, Middenriding
- Alchester, Erneshire

should all have mayoral elections that could happen every 5 years, beginning in 5005. My current view is that they should be symbolic representatives of their cities, but if anyone can suggest a real purpose for this in the RP, I’d be happy to see it. Mostly just things like basic services - since that’s what most city governments do. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_government_in_England) as it would be much too hard to create a complete 2nd layer of devolved powers.

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action.
