MessageThe Labour Party would like to see this bill taken further. Trade Unions should be compulosry, only a closed shop will ensure workers are adequetly represented in the workplace.

MessagePresident James Maxton (NDLP): I understand the concerns of the Labour Party, but I have to say that we must realise the material conditions we find ourselves in. The political climate shall not change overnight. I view this as a step, a necessary step, to aiding the workers. I hope the members of the Labour Party agree with me that non-compulsory trade unions are better than no trade unions at all. Do they?

MessageThey should be legalized, but if you force people to join you might as well be declaring "We don't care what you want! Join our union or you aren't worthy of living here!" Trade Unions are fine, as long as they aren't given too much political power.

Messagethey should not be mandatory, but they should have at least as much political power as the corporations, if not more.

MessageGeorge McLeod (NDLP): The point is to find a balance between employer and employee in the current system of exchange, to allow the best possible outcome for both sides. Too much employer power, and the worker is exploited. Too much employee power, and we open ourselves up to certain economic problems. But this is getting away from the point of this legislation. Does anyone in this Parliament disagree that Trades Unions should be legalised?

Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play.
