| Mr. Speaker, Dear colleagues, I am outraged that the Shieldwall, once again in power, is working to tear to shreds the freedoms cherished by many of our citizens. In the name of an ultra-conservative and dangerous ideal, the majority, supported by the Metzists and former NPP members, has decided to ignore all the progress that was made during the four years of the Mark Pritchard government. In a democracy, the rights of all individuals must be respected. That means that a woman should have the right to work. A gay person should have the right to marry a person of the same sex. And yes, I can hear the rumblings from the majority. A transgender person should have the right to wear whatever clothes they want. THAT'S FREEDOM! And the Liberal Party will ALWAYS be there to defend these basic rights! We call on the opposition and all democratic parliamentarians to stand together in the face of this extremist affront. |
