Description[?]:

The family of former Prime Minister, Cornelius Greenwood-Kimbrough, today confirmed that he had passed away peacefully at the age of 97, whilst at his residence near Winworth. Greenwood-Kimbrough served as the Prime Minister of Luthori from February 4980 to March 4985.

Greenwood-Kimbrough first joined the Monarchist Tory Party in 4974, and entered the Diet after the election later that year. Prior to that, he had served as an independent local councillor in Shipley for five years. His rise to MTP leadership was a quick and surprising one, and afterwards led the party down what was seen as a slightly more liberal route. His reign was certainly the most successful of any MTP leader, being the only ever MTP member to serve in the role of Prime Minister. He led the MTP to a full five year term as a minority government, with a confidence and supply agreement from Alliance, and when that failed, conditional support from other parties.

Throughout his tenure as Prime Minister, he oversaw a series of radical changes to set the wheels in motion for desegregation. Despite this, he faced heavy criticism from both the left and the right. Many on the conservative right did not want to see segregation laws abolished, whilst those on the left thought they should be abolished in a different way. His government also saw restrictions on smoking, the introduction of the 50 year freedom of information classified file limit, the expansion of the police DNA forensic database, and de-censorship of the internet.

Regardless of the controversy surrounding him at the time, many people will look back on his years as Prime Minister as fairly successful. He has been remembered mainly as the desegregation Prime Minister, but his achievement in leading a minority government for an entire term should not be forgotten.

After his defeat in the 4985 General Election, he went on to be the MTP party leader for another 12 years, until 4997. Throughout this period his career was fairly unremarkable, and he decided to step down at age 55, following a series of undesirable election results. He remained in politics until the collapse of the MTP in 5002.

In his retirement, he went on to feature in a number of political TV shows, appearing frequently on Sunday morning debate programmes. He released his autobiography, “CGK”, in 5007. He also became known for his extensive travelling, and featured in a three part travel show which aired on the LBC. He also volunteered as a community cleaner in Winworth during the 5010s.

It is understood that Greenwood-Kimbrough was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 5031, however this was kept quiet by his family. This condition eventually led to his death.

MessageOOC: I’m assuming that everyone is fine with me posting this as I used to rp as the MTP. The fact that it clashes with the death of the current Prime Minister is purely a coincidence, Greenwood-Kimbrough’s death has been scheduled for March 5039 since he became the PM.
