| Alfred Williams, the long-time Chairman of the UNWF Workers’ Council had died aged 86. He has consistently been chosen by the council as its chairman since the party’s formation, and has been seen by many as the party’s de-facto leader. Williams was born in 4966, and began his working life in the mines of Ernshire at the age of 18. He quickly rose to prominence in the Ernshire Miners Union, becoming its leader in his thirties. Upon the formation of the UNWF by ten trade unions in 5017, he was elected the leader of its representative council, the UNWF. Throughout his political career he has stood strongly for a socialist-communist state, and had hoped to see the end of nobility and monarchy in Luthori. He often claimed that every man or woman was equal, no matter their class. He has never held any cabinet position or position of power at a national or duchy level. He died in the Cross Hospital in Aldwyke after having fallen down the stairs and broken his back. He died with his wife and children by his bedside. The current members of the UNWF Workers’ Council will now hold an emergency meeting to elect a new chairman. |
