Message | I support the abolotion of national service. It was a narrowminded right wing backlash policy to begin with. A bad policy should be changed regardless of whether it has been in for a year or a hundred years. |

Message | Is it too much to ask the citizens of the country to volunteer in the National service? This instills patriotism among the people which isn't a bad idea. We're living in a time where people have no loyalty whatsoever to anything as was proven in London, England when citizens of that country, born in that country planned terrorist attacks against their own countrymen. I'm going to oppose this bill. |

Message | To the honorable member for the CRF. In short no. It is not too much to ASK, citizens to Volunteer in the National Service. To tell them they must, is too much. National service does not instill patriotism, the nations in the RW that have national service invariabley experience a brain drain of young people leaving the country to avoid national service. National service would not prevent terrorism. What would be in the nations interest, what would be in the interests of any nation, is for the youth of the nation to feel valued, to feel a part of their community to feel appreciated for what they are. Let those youth whose calling is in the military join the military and do so with our respect and our thanks. Let those youth whose calling is in the police or fire service do Likewise, yet those youth who's calling is the arts, or journalism or banking, or teaching, whose calling is music or brewing or plumbing, pursue their calling, secure in the knowledge that they are respected and appreciated for doing so. That their country appreciates them as individuals and not as a source of cheap labour. Vanuku is a strong enough, mature enough nation that it can earn the loyalty and patriotism of its citizens through the force and rightness of the values we hold dear. Vanuku should not and does not need to force its youth into patriotism. |

Message | The SD said exactly what we wished to say.. there is a big difference between asking someone to do national service as the CRF claim and forcing them to comply. Forcing people to undertake national service does the complete opposite of the claims of the CRF that it will instill national pride and patriotism.. in fact it will do the exact opposite. If someone is forcing you to do something you dont wish to do then you are going to hate them and more often than not your gonna hate what trhey represent and what they stand for. The SD also makes another interesting point we hadnt even thought of and that being that people will and do leave the country to reside elsewheres.. the brain drain as it was called... This is a real posibility.. and the current shape we will have a population that resents its government and a technologically worse off society as all our "brains" will have gone overseas... We implore you to vote for this bill to save the country |

Message | we would prefer "All adults upon completion of schooling must serve a term of civilian national service." Because this i s a pilar of citizenship. So young people would be able to act in their society for the benefit of the community. rich young people will see how difficult live can be when you're not well borned. The civilian national service i also a force to act in case of emergency: nationwide fires, natural disasters, black tides ... |
