Bill: RP: Death of MP Jessica Lang
Details
Submitted by[?]: The Federal Whig Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 5110
Description[?]:
Jessica Lang, the Minister overseeing Trade and Industry, has died after a fall in her home. Aged 129, Lang was the longest-serving member of Parliament, serving a record 111 years. Lang was a Conservative icon, leading the more fiscally responsible wing of the Federalist Party for most of her life. Lang, despite her age, remained quick-witted all of her days. "The death of Jess Lang is a travesty," President Alistair Durant said when he learned the news at a press conference earlier today. "Jess was a friend, a very dear friend. We didn't always agree, but she was a good person to work with, and she was honest with all of us. Jess kept us in line and kept us focused on our work. We will never forget her." Lang was elected in 4998, the first year that the Federalist Party was introduced on the ballot. She has been consistently re-elected each cycle after. Her seat in Parliament and the Cabinet will not be filled until after the next round of elections. |
