Greek is the main language, and most characters should have Greek names, with smaller numbers of Albanian, Arabic, and Turkish names, or a combination of those. After Classical Antiquity Kalopia would be brought under foreign rule for centuries, with its territory ruled consecutively by the Cildanian Hegemony (~ Carthaginian Empire), Augustan Empire (~ Eastern Roman Empire), Tokundian Empire (~ Bulgarian Empire), and the Ahmadi Caliphate (~ Islamic Empire). In the 16th century the region became independent under the name of "Wantuni" under Majatran (Arab) rule, and between the 18th and 20th centuries it was part of the Quanzar Empire, becoming an independent republic in 1930. For much of its modern history the nation was under Majatran apartheid rule, until the 27th century, when ethnic Kalopian rule was restored to the nation, sparking a cycle of Kalopian supremacism, Wantuni minority rule, genocide, and instability that would continue for centuries. Ethnic groups: The Kalopians, based on RL Greeks, are the dominant ethnicity in Kalopia. Kalopians arrived in Majatra in antiquity, and during their Classical era, Kalopian city states were found throughout South Majatra. Kalopians have a culture primarily based on that of modern Greeks. Kalopians are the primary inhabitants of Minosasa, Mossavi, and Seshold. Kalopians are religiously divided between Israi Ahmadism (Sunni Islam), Halawism (Alevism + Alawism + Bektashism), and Aurorian Patriarchal Hosianism (Roman Catholic Christianity). Majatrans, based on RL Arabs, are the largest minority in the nation. Majatrans have inhabited the region since ancient times, with their number greatly increasing when the territory was conquered by the Ahmadi (Islamic) Caliphate. The Majatrans indigenous to Kalopia are usually known as Wantunis. Most Majatrans in Kalopia are Israi (Sunni), with smaller proportions adhering to other Ahmadi sects or to Hosianism. Siphinans are based on RL Albanians in culture and appearance, and form the largest ethnic group in the Siphina region. Siphinans are religiously divided between Halawism (RL Alevism and Alawism), a heterodox offshoot of Abadism (RL Shia Islam), and the Terran Patriarchal Church, the dominant denomination in neighbouring Deltaria. The Turjaks are another ethnic minority in Kalopia, and are based on RL Turks and Azeris in culture and appearance. Turjaks form communities throughout the territory of the nation, with higher concentrations in Wantuni al-Najd. Most Turjaks are Israi (Sunni Muslim), with a large number of them practicing Abadism and Halawism. Religions: The most widely practiced religion in Kalopia is Ahmadism, a religion that was founded in 1186 that believes Akim to be the only God and Ahmad to be his Prophet. The most followed Ahmadi denomination in Kalopia is Israism, based on Sunni Islam. Halawism, a heterodox offshoot of Abadism (Shi'a Islam), believing in panentheism and accepting elements of folk religion and Hosianism (Christianity) also has a wide following, and is primarily based on Alevism with elements of Bektashism and Alawism. Many Kalopians also follow Zahirism, a religion born in Kalopia, believing that Zahir al-Muntadhir, a 37th century Majatran from Wantuni, is the rightful and last Imam; Zahirism is largely based on the RL Druze religion. The second largest religion in Kalopia is Hosianism, a religion founded in 1 CE that believes Eliyahu of Yishelem to be the Spirit of God and the Savior of mankind. Most Kalopians belong to the Aurorian Patriarchal Church, the largest Hosian communion on Terra and largely based on the Roman Catholic Church, with smaller numbers belonging to the Terran Patriarchal Church (based on the Russian Orthodox Church with Slavic mythology), and the Apostolic Church of the East, based on the Oriental Orthodox Churches as well as the Assyrian Church of the East.
