Bill: Human definition act

Details

Submitted by[?]: MLC Old Endralonian Resistance

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2069

Description[?]:

an alternative bill on the abortion issue , human rights should begin at the point of intelligent self awareness which can be fairly safely placed in the third trimester of a pregnancy , and can be guaranteed by the end of that trimester , thus considering this an abortion should only be considered murder (and thus made illegal) during the third trimester . First and Second trimester abortions should be legal regardless of the degree to which they are needed or the type of individual who may utilise them simply because there is no negative effect towards non-consentual parties.

MessageWe believe that under no circumstances any state should ever have the right to restrict the control women have over their own bodies but at the same time we would support any reduction in the current restictions. We will therefore abstain from this bill at the moment but we will later vote in support if our own bill is likely to fail and against if our bill is likely to pass.

MessageThe control women have over their own bodies does not come naturally; it is given by society (or, to be more exact, by advances in science and medicine) in the first place.

Messagehow the control is given is irrelevant , also women were throwing themselves down stairs and taking poison to abort children long before science made it safe and its worth noting they continued to do so in most circumstances where they were not given the ability to do so safely.

2 trimesters allows almost all women to abort unwanted children safely and to the very small minority who would desire third trimester abortions they would most certainly have known about the pregnancy and had the opportuinity of abortion beforehand, yet the risk of the child being self aware in any sensible definition during the second trimester is extremely minimal.

The point at hand is where the control a women has over her body can destroy a centient life it is undeniable this is the case for abortions occuring after an undefined point in the third trimester whilst this point remains undefinable it seems logical one should outlaw abortion for the third trimester and only the third trimester by the precedent that through control of my body I can strangle you yet it is still illegal and that I and any accomplice (with whatever degree of scientific prowess) may make it our mission to kill ants to our hearts content without state intervention (providing the population was unaffected , but then again if humans were endangered I'd be against abortion)
