Bill: The Personal Prosperity Budget and Taxation proposal of February 2232

Details

Submitted by[?]: Pnték Znkak Prta 'Bastardry'

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2233

Description[?]:

The Bastards propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the Pontesian Dynastic Commonwealth.

We propose a 5,510,000,000 PON cut in spending.
This is primary in the Health and Education sectors as these are left to the private sector anyway, and way too much funding is going into these sectors. With very few Social Services getting 1.6 billion PON we perceive this as a waste, and with Culture being half of the Education budget, we can see why that requires to have it's fair share. As such, funding to both sectors will be halved.
The Head of Government has 60 million to play with. With the reduction in taxation we're proposing he could get by in his career on 50.
We've cut 3 billion from Science and Technology because of all the medical technologies that will now be in the private sector's interest, but we've left a sturdy 22 billion for infrastructural, military and cultural, touristic and agricultural technologies.
We also plan to take 1/4 of the Environment and Tourism because whilst Tourism is important, only half of us at most care about the Environment here.

We propose a 5,262,082,373 PON tax break in the form of a Luxury tax reduction from 7% to 6%.

With this, the economy will grow due to consumers being more incensed to work as more of their money stays with them, and the Surplus for the government still increases by 247,917,627 PON.

MessageWe think that the Bastards perhaps should have requested the Finance Ministry before proposing a budget, we will therefore, refrain from voting. It is a bit like the ONCP performing foreign relations when it only holds the environment and Finance ministries.

MessageI cannot support this budget when it cuts back on the health, education and science fields. Progress is required to compete. Without science, there can be no progress. Apart from lame progress.

MessageTo the FFYRTP, we state that we're cutting back on sections that have been yeilded to the private sector. We are advocators of scientific progress, as evidenced in previous proposals which we have blocked.

To the ONCP, we appreciate your concerns, but felt this would agree with your platform. We also site Article 4 Section A of the constitution - "(1a) The executive power shall be vested in the Atabeg Accipitrum and the Cabinet." We apologise for the lack of prior consultation but the Atabeg Accipitrum effectively holds every power - not every party can propose a budget. We politely request that you reconsider.

Random fact: The people in your nation don't like inactive parties. When you often abstain from voting for a bill, they will dislike your party and your visibility to the electorate will decrease significantly. Low visibility will means you are likely to lose seats. So keep in mind: voting Yes or No is always better than Abstaining.

Random quote: "I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers." - Ralph Nader
