MessageNot decided yet, but I would like to hear arguments, why 16, not 18 (traditional age), not 17, not 21?

MessageIf we want Alorian youth to be politically aware as FDP puts it then allowing to have a political voice is the best ay to do it. I believe the views of younger people are often ignored in the political process, this will force politicians to listen to them.

MessageI don't agree. I am a teacher, and before that, well, I was part of youth myself.

I can testify that the most heard opinion of 18-year olds who have to go voting are: why do we have to? I don't understand the whole political thing anyway.

Besides, voting is not just expressing an opinion, which everyone is able to. Voting is in the end taking part in the process of decision making. And we believe a certain maturity is absolutely necessary for that. I'm sorry to say so, but 16 year olds are not mature enough in our opinion to be given the right to vote.

We would however agree to the installation of local youth counsels that can advise cities and villages on the effect their policy has on the youth. That also strenghtens the voice of our young citizens, whitout loading them with the burden of policy. Let teenagers be teenagers, allow them to be irresponsible while they can, and don't take away the last part of their childhood and puberty.

MessageI know many people who are under 18 who are more politically astute than plenty of 'adults' I know

MessageThat's not an argument. because I also now 14 year olds who are more grown up than 16 year olds, and I know 12 year olds who are more astute than 14 year olds, and so one.

This bill is about an age limite, and age, unfortunately, never means a clear indication that someone is mature enough to do anything.

But, if you like, you may introduce a bill reserving the right to vote to those people who have taken and passed for a political exam?
