Message | An Act to recognise prostitution as an official profession, thus allowing the government to exercise control over it to a certain degree to prevent and act against the trafficking of woman and other abuses and crimes often associated with prostitution in case the government doesn't exercise any control over it. |
Date | not recorded | From | New Democrats of Rutania | To | Debating the Prostitution Control Act |
Message | New Democrats will not support this bill. Government recognition of prostitution entails more than pragmatic regulation concerns-- it will alter the moral structure of the state and the frames in which citizens view it. The state cannot become involved in sex trade. |

Message | That's the point of this proposal. By recognising prostitution, the government can exercise control over it to some degree and act more efficiently against sex trade. I believe it will not alter the moral structure of the state, as it has not done so in the other nations that recognise prostitution. |

Message | I think we've had plenty of time for debate, so I have initiated the voting procedure. |
Date | not recorded | From | Libertarian Alcoholic Par-tay | To | Debating the Prostitution Control Act |
Message | I'm still ambivolent on this issue because the term "official profession" is ambiguous and unclear. Is it even the government's duty to recognize lines of work as "official professions"? Also, if both official and unofficial professions are legal, what's the difference? |
Date | not recorded | From | RSDP - Democratic Front | To | Debating the Prostitution Control Act |
Message | I believe 'official' means that people can have prostitution as their only profession and that the Government can exercise more control over it. |
Date | not recorded | From | Libertarian Alcoholic Par-tay | To | Debating the Prostitution Control Act |
Message | Well, the Libertarian Alcoholics are pretty strongly against increased government control over any industry. However, of course people should be allowed to make their living exclusively by whoring themselves. Looks like I'm going to have to give this one some careful thought. |
Date | not recorded | From | RSDP - Democratic Front | To | Debating the Prostitution Control Act |
Message | Perhaps I haven't made myself clear, by recognising prostitution as an official profession the government CAN exercise more control over it, but perhaps that would require other proposals. |
Date | not recorded | From | New Democrats of Rutania | To | Debating the Prostitution Control Act |
Message | I support legalizing prostitution but I don't think it is in the government's interest to officially recognize the sex trade. Unsavory elements can still be controlled by regular policing. |
Date | not recorded | From | Libertarian Alcoholic Par-tay | To | Debating the Prostitution Control Act |
Message | You're right New Democrats. Laws which already exist deal adequately with any kind of forceful or fraudulent acts in the sex trade. As staunch defenders of economic liberty, the Libertarian Alcoholic party must vote against your bill, since it advocates the "official profession" title in order to allow more regulation than I feel is necessary. |
