| Today after 17 years of leading the Luthorian Conservative Party Frm. Chancellor of the Exchequer Samuel Goldwater announced he will be standing down. The previous election saw a net lost of 21 seats and a massive fall in the vote share which lead to a leadership spill which he survived. His statement Samuel Goldwater: I want to thank all of you for standing with me in this election. I have lead us to history lows and now to an historic high water mark in terms of number of votes cast. We had the largest number of voters in 60 years and picked up 17 seats. However, I’ve told all my fellow members of parliament that if we could not pick up the 21 seats we lost in the last election then I would stand down. I was able to lead us back in government for a full term and now into a stronger party. However, the march to official opposition is still on. But I can’t be that leader anymore. So today I step aside as leader of the LCP. |
