Message | i disagree. i can understand you being against this for you are so determined to substitute the State for some kind of corporational oligarchy, but children need to learn their national anthem. It is suppose to mean something you know? |

Message | I am not sure what causes you to think that I am in favour of a "corporational oligarchy". Indeed, you have only just accused me of being an anarchist. Please make up your mind. I'll give you a clue, you are closer to being right when you call me an anarchist. Remember, an anarchist believes in no rule by no-one. An oligarchist believes in rule by a few. This is almost the opposite (the actual opposite would be a monarchist who believes in rule by one. This is what you believe when you argue for absolute power to be held by the State). I would argue that oligarchy is better than monarchy. At least under an oligarchy there is some choice, under a monarchy there is none. It is absolute slavery. Anyway, back to the subject, I am not sure why children *need* to learn the national anthem. What great calamity will occur if a child does not know their national anthem? The soccer world cup is about to start, look how many of the world's most successful sportsmen don't know their own national anthem (I can tell you right now that many of the English players don't). These countries are not all collapsing into chaos because some people do not know the words to the national anthem. Your unsupported assertion that children *need* to learn the national anthem seems not to be borne out by the facts. |

Random quote: "We must show that liberty is not merely one particular value but that it is the source and condition of most moral values. What a free society offers to the individual is much more than what he would be able to do if only he were free. We can therefore not fully appreciate the value of freedom until we know how a society of free men as a whole differs from one in which unfreedom prevails." - Friedrich August Hayek |
