Bill: National Anthem
Details
Submitted by[?]: Adam Smith Party

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2071
Description[?]:
We propose that our nation adopts an anthem. It is suggested that a good anthem would be "Stuck in the Middle with You" as this represents well the conflict in our political positions and the quality of our nation. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The lyrics of the national anthem.
Old value:: None
Current:
O, Lodamun Rejoice, brothers and sisters Children of our glorious land May we restrain our resistors Their resistance we disband No foe I fear, no friend I force We propagate wholeheartedly No single feeling of Remorse affects our fraternity All the weapons of this earth Could not temper our pride Lodamun, for what it's worth Your sacred grounds we abide O, Republic that is ours Our lives are in your hands We shall maintain with all our powers Your glory, with proud stance. |
Proposed:
For Formal events: Spring from Vivaldi's Four seasons For Sports Events: Well I don't know why I came here tonight, I got the feeling that something ain't right, I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair, And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs, Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, here I am, Stuck in the middle with you. Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you, And I'm wondering what it is I should do, It's so hard to keep this smile from my face, Losing control, yeah, I'm all over the place, Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, Here I am, stuck in the middle with you. |

Message | It just happened to appear alongside national sport and national animal. We technically don't need them either, but they make for fun threads at times. Calvinball for national sport. |

Message | Don't we need an anthem, so we can keep letting the children not sing it? Maybe something simple, though. O Lodamun We stand on guard for thee O Lodamun We stand on gaurd for thee How much we stand on gaurd for thee O Lodamun we do We stand on guard, O Lodamun We stand on guard for thee O Lodamun, we stand on guard for thee O Lodamun, we stand on guard for thee O Lodamun We stand on guard for thee! ((Even worse then the original, eh?)) |

Message | If we are going to not make the children sing it, at least let it be something that has some kind of dancable rhythm so the fans at sporting events can have fun. |

Message | Well, my first suggestions would be "The Internationale", "A las Barricadas", or "Imagine", but I guess you wouldn't want any of those..... How about Vivalidi's Spring. It's instrumental, which is nice, it's upbeat, spring is a time for renual, it's catchy, it would sound great at political rallies as candidates are mounting the stage, or at baseball games..... eh? Like it? |

Message | Vivaldi's Spring from the Four Seasons Suite is very charming, but not exactly blood stirring, which if we are to have an instrumental anthem it should be. We think some are taking this too seriously CNT. There is no political message in the suggestion we made, except maybe that of disagreement. We prefer to play this one for fun. Any other fun, rather than politicial suggestions? |
Date | 06:04:40, June 23, 2005 CET | From | Cooperative Commonwealth Federation | To | Debating the National Anthem |
Message | For the record, ASP, everything i've said on this thread has been in jest, from the Latin to the take-off of my own country's stupid anthem lyrics. There are no serious suggestions, let alone poltical ones, and your proposal is fine. Although if i was being serious, i'd much prefer Vivaldi's Spring. |
Date | 06:41:29, June 23, 2005 CET | From | Adam Smith Party | To | Debating the National Anthem |
Message | ((I was referring to CNT's suggestion)) I still hold that Spring is not stirring enough to be an anthem. I could support it being our secondary national music, in the sense of Land of Hope and Glory in England. |
Date | 03:00:47, June 24, 2005 CET | From | MLTP (The Resistance) | To | Debating the National Anthem |
Message | Hey, I think it's pretty stiring. I stirs me. In fact, it stirsm me really hard. Like, violently. And the spoon is plastic, so it broke, and they had to get another one. |

Message | We have ammended the suggestion to produce a doupble layered National Anthem, with the organisers of any event being able to choose between them (mostly depending on the formality we would imagine.) |

Message | Fair enough. |

Message | I wonder what albert's got against the anthems..... Eight Miles High (by the byrds) could have been a cool one, I was just thinking. It kind of lends itself to a national anthem. Too late now, I guess. |
