Bill: Firearms Act of 5227

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberals Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 5314

Description[?]:

Introduction:

I. This bill seeks to establish firearm ownership as a right, as well as define the circumstances in which their use is acceptable.
II. This bill will not be defining who is prohibited from owning firearms.
III. This bill will outline what firearms and accessories for firearms are acceptable.

Preamble:

In turbulent times, governments have turned to the strengthening of security through authority and control. This solution has caused civil strife, extreme distrust in our leaders, and tragic outcomes for dissenters. To ensure that our state will never be subject to unnecessary tyranny, we must arm the people against it. They must have the means to fight authoritarians foreign and domestic so that they may never live in fear of the leaders who should be in their service.

Section A: Establishment of the Right to Bear Arms

I. Be it enacted by this legislature, the right to keep and bear arms shall be cemented as a basic right in our nation.
II. No person in legal possession of a weapon shall be subject to unwarranted registration, nor will they be surveilled because they own a weapon.
III. This legislature shall make no bill restricting basic access to weapons, therefore no bill shall introduce things such as purchasing permits, waiting periods, unnecessary application processes, etc.

Section B

I. A firearm is defined as a projectile weapon that uses a small, controlled explosion to create enough energy that a projectile can be expelled through the barrel. It does this by using a striker, sometimes connected to a hammer, to strike the primer and ignite the gunpowder inside, which is responsible for the expulsion of the projectile.
IA. A semi-automatic firearm is defined as a self loading gun that uses the energy of a previous discharge to chamber a new round. It is fired as fast as you can pull the trigger, 1 trigger pull = 1 round fired. A fully automatic firearm is defined as a gun that goes through the same process for loading a cartridge that a semi-automatic firearm does, only the trigger does not have to be released after each round is fired to fire again. Instead, one may hold down the trigger for continuous fire as the weapon automatically uses the energy of the previous discharge to lead a new cartridge and fire it. A manual action firearm is defined as a firearm that has the capacity for multiple cartridges, but each round must be loading manually, whether by racking a bolt, racking a lever, or pumping a pump.
II. Each of the firearm types listed in IA are legal to own, with only the automatic firearms being regulated significantly.
III. Magazine capacity is not regulated.
IV. Suppressors are not regulated.

Section C.

I. Self defense with a firearm is legal if the actor's life or another person's life is in danger.
II. Concealed carry is legal.
III. Home defense is legal.
IV. Using a firearm against an officer of the law that is wrongfully assaulting you is legal.

MessageSection C needs to be reworked entirely, it is left way too vague for our party to even consider supporting this law. We wish to have subsection 4 of section C to be removed in its entirety

Random fact: The influence a bill has on elections decreases over time, until it eventually is no longer relevant. This can explain shifts in your party's position to the electorate and your visibility.

Random quote: First and second class seats on public transport shall be BANNED! We are all FIRST CLASS people, regardless of whether we are rich or poor and can afford or not afford to pay for a more expensive seat. From now on, all seats on trains, buses, trams, planes and so on shall be the SAME. We will all travel in the SAME way, TOGETHER. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party
