| His/Her Majesty's Imperial Privy Council is the highest advisory body to the Emperor of the Holy Empire, serving as a forum for the discussion of important state matters and the formulation of policy. The council is composed of a select group of high-ranking officials, often cabinet members both former and current alike, and neutral advisors, who are appointed by the Emperor and serve at his pleasure. The council is headed by the Lord High Chancellor aka Lord Chancellor, who serves as the chief advisor to the Emperor and presides over the council's meetings. The Lord Chancellor is assisted by the Lord Privy Seal, who is responsible for the maintenance of the council's records and the management of its affairs. Other members of the council include the Lord President of the Council, who advises the Emperor on domestic affairs, and the Lord High Treasurer, who advises on financial matters. Other high-ranking officials and advisors may also be appointed to the council as needed. The council meets regularly to discuss a wide range of issues, including foreign policy, defense, economics, and social affairs. Its recommendations and advice are presented to the Emperor for his consideration and approval. In addition to its advisory role, the council also serves as a court of appeal for certain legal cases, and has the power to grant pardons and issue proclamations on behalf of the Emperor. However, these pardons are merely royal prerogatives of mercy, so in other words they can change the sentence or penalty but not a conviction. Overall, the Emperor's Privy Council will play an important but in reality a symbolic role in the governance of the Holy Empire. |
