I'm going to sound like a hopeless nerd here but competetive athletic sports whilst great at a friendly unorganised level for keeping fit in the largescale they simply serve to reinforce the splintering by geographical location or social clique of the working class and place emphasis on the physical strength and prowess of an individual (OOC: before you make assumptions I'm not some spindly geek unable to play sports I'm good at football but stand by my point) I'd much prefer our country endorsed sports involving logic and mental prowess such as chess (european , chinese or japanese) or igo , or any similar game which allows our citizens to develop their mental faculties. |
