| After the scenes of chaos at Fort William, many members of the Centre gathered at its headquarters in Fort William to decide a new path for the party. At the conference, left-wing firebrand Sally Edwards triggered an election for party leader, in which right-wing figure Stephanie Grant was also nominated. In an attempt to maintain the peace, Axel Park said he would fight this left-wing attempt to oust him vigorously, which of course only brought more clashes. Party insider Hepsie Salmon later told news reporters, “Our party will never be the same again, whether or not Axel Park keeps the leadership. I’m frankly disgusted by the antics of Kersey and Norris, airing our dirty laundry in front of the House. I consider myself on the left side, however this was a horrible day. I’m even inclined to support disbanding the whole operation if this keeps up.” |
