Bill: Food Labeling Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Jakania Republican Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2246

Description[?]:

There has to be a law on this because I want to know what buying. I do not want to buy potato chips when I want crackers. It might put some buget woes at some food companies but people want to know what they are buying or unless they like to waste money trying to find what they want.

MessageWe agree that some sort of food labeling should be in place, but who is to decide what is "easily understood"? Does a list of ingredients that includes some 14-letter word qualify? We'd support having food labeling somewhere, but "easily understood" is a bit vague and opens the door for more lawsuits.

MessageWe would rather a more clearly worded position as well, however we feel the proposal is nonetheless a considerable improvement and are supporting it on that basis.
