Bill: Cabinet Proposal of June 2249

Details

Submitted by[?]: Radical-Revolutionary Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2250

Description[?]:

This would form a coalition between all the socialist parties in Alduria, giving the government a majority of 55.6%. If any one of these is excluded, the government would be in the minority. The posts are broken down based on the percentage each party holds in the coalition, with most of the important posts going to the Bendiri Bandidos and the Revolutionary National Party.

The Bandidos would be given the post of Director-General, as they are still the largest party in the legislature, and the RNP won the Presidential election.

We believe this to be an equitable distribution of power.

MessageWe are disappointed to lose control of the Foreign Office in your proposal. However, we will lend our support as the ARL's departure necessitates a cabinet reshuffle.

MessageWhy is the Marxist-Labor Party given representation in this cabinet when they do worse than the Olympic Party in elections? Why are they given disproportional power with their supposed comrades?

The RNP and Bandidos agrees with the Romantics on economic policy often. Why not strengthen any coalition and offer power to real socialists?

MessageAnd, yet, they very, very frequently disagree with the Romantic Party. It's called a coalition, it's formed by some parties in order to control the government, to the exclusion of other parties. Not everybody is given representation. Success in elections does not govern how a government is formed. If that was the case, the Jacobites, the RNP and the Bandidos would form their own government. However, the Jacobites, though they hold a substantial number of seats, are being excluded.

Have we suddenly become enemies of the Romantic Party? Have we wronged you in some way? Why the sudden unpleasantness directed towards us? We're not "real" socialists, now, apparently.

MessageQuite simply, if given positions in areas we do not disagree on, we would bend more on issues we do disagree on. We did not raise any opposition to the RNP's education bill, because they had appeased us where we had agreed.

The AOP is beating you, and your small holding of seats is really not enough for a coalition. Its your power, not your ideological devotion we question.

We deserve seats based on our shared ideology AND our success in the elections.

MessageAgain, success in elections has no bearing on theoretical inclusion in a coaltion.

MessageWhat success? You have had two elections now and have failed to make use of the bonus support the game gives to new parties.
