MessageSocial Democrats believe that the huge surplus of our country must be prudently redistributed. This bill is nothing more than basic support for poor families, for basic subsistence income, for a basic pension system, all requirements for a compassionate, tolerant society. We must have confidence that by the strong helping the weak, we are all made stronger.

MessageThe Fair Capitalist Party have been telling us that they "support whole-heartedly the welfare system", but they voted against a bill to ensure nothing more than the basic social security for the people of our country. And they even failed to tell us why...

MessageThis is a futile waste of our tax dollars. The government paying people simply for being poor? Nonsense. Then how many people will stop working just to get a handout from the government? We might as well flush our tax dollars down the toilet. We will have none of this.

MessageWe are not talking about ensuring prosperity, but just about survival. There's no issue of Welfare Trap since the proposed support is trinkets really. It's the least we should do to make sure that poverty and complete inequality do not undermine our prosperity.

MessageOpposed broadly due to the same reasons as the Libertarians.

MessageWe tentatively support this bill, because we believe the State has to take care of its citizens. We feel ambiguous about section 2, but will vote in favour nonetheless.
